Middle School Mathematics

During middle school math, students build on to the concepts they learned in elementary school while preparing for high school math. Our online math courses use Prism Diagnostics™ to ensure all students receive personalized learning experiences that are best suited for their individual needs. Struggling students receive any necessary assistance, while advanced students can accelerate through their courses.

Sixth through eighth grade math teaches Students the following topics:

• Ratios, rates, and proportions
• Fractions, decimals, and percents
• Decimal computation
• Equations
• Functions and inequalities
• Area, volume, and surface areas
• Algebraic expressions
• Rational numbers and exponents
• Linear functions
• And much more!

In addition to the Grade 6, Grade 7, and Grade 8 Math courses, we offer additional class options for supplementary lessons as well as an introduction into Pre-Algebra. Lastly, our FUNdamental Math course reviews mathematical concepts for students at the end of seventh or eighth grade or the beginning of ninth. FUNMath is also offered in Spanish.

The Grade 5 Math course focuses on the introduction of algebraic and geometric concepts. After fifth grade, students have a strong mathematical foundation that sets them up for success in future math courses.

Middle School English Language Arts

English Language Arts and Reading curriculum for middle school students expands on the literary elements–such as grammar, spelling, and vocabulary–that they learned in elementary school. Students build their reading interpretation and writing skills as well as their ability to understand and comprehend various types of literature, including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.

Finally, We offers Discover English, an ESL course, is for students whose native language is not English. This course will help students master English as a second language.

Middle School Science

Our middle school science curriculum teaches students about life, earth, and physical science. Grade 6 Science covers space and solar systems, electricity and magnetism, and Earth systems. Students also acquire a rudimentary understanding of physics.

After sixth grade, students can choose between Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science, as well as two courses that review basic science concepts. Our middle school science curriculum will set up students for success in their high school science classes.

Middle School Social Studies

We offers history and social studies courses that cover a wide variety of topics. These include everything from early civilization to modern-day conflicts as well as the past and present governments, cultures, and economies of countries around the world.

In addition to our Grade 6 and Grade 7 Social Studies classes, we offer American History, Ancient Civilizations, Geography, and Personal Finance.

Our middle school history and social studies curriculum gives students a foundation for comprehending current events and understanding how to approach social, cultural, and political situations.

Middle School Foreign Languages

We believe studying a foreign language is an important part of learning about different countries and cultures. Therefore, we offer foreign language classes in French, German, and Spanish.

For each language, students will learn greetings, numbers, vocabulary, verbs and verb conjugations, currency, and familiar nouns. Theses courses have units that discuss the culture of different countries that speak the languages. By the end of the course, students will be able to engage in basic conversation in the language that they study.

Health and Physical Education

Health and physical education are important at all ages, but they are particularly important during a student’s middle school years. Middle School Health focuses on physical fitness, nutrition, mental and emotional well-being, personal hygiene, disease, personal safety, and first aid.

As children begin to act for themselves, taking care of their minds and bodies is crucial for their long-term health and wellbeing.
